catch-up

i've been practicing bass for a couple months now. i don't have a band at the moment (big tears, i know) so i'm going a little insane. i'm looking at playing some accoustic shows with a friend of mine (she's a guitarist) which is a totally different feel from the stuff i wanna sing, but it's certainly better than nothing. ガンバロウだな〜
work's been good. i've reinforced my love of teaching middle school over the elementary schools. the elementary kids are sweet, but teaching the younger kids can be frustrating since it has unreliable schedules, no set subjects to cover, and no teachers willing to do anything much during the class. it's nice to have control of my own lessons, but being unable to really know what i can and can't expect to be allowed to cover in a year is extremely frustrating.
grr grr grr.
it looks like we'll get new text books in the middle schools this next year, for which i am extremely grateful. the ones we currently use are fairly poorly thought out. for example, they teach vocabulary like "land mine" and ignore vocabulary like "airplane".

next month is gonna be busy busy busy (not like they all aren't):
next week is work, dealing with signing for a new apartment, taking care of my friend's kids, cooking for people, practicing music, two shows (one punk, one not) and a day of snowboarding.
the week after follows a similar pattern.

the new apartment's gonna be sweet! i'll have a KITCHEN that is not in a hallway O_O hurray!
also, they allow pets. gonna go look at the animal shelter soon :)
